Drafting assist: drawings in, reviewable information out

We structure drawing information — door and window schedules, material lists, equipment tables — into reviewable spreadsheets, and check drawings against your own review points. Designers and reviewers confirm every item; we do not produce or certify design output.

Where drafting assist helps — and where it stops

Good fit

  • Design institutes and contractor technical teams with large drawing sets and repeated information-extraction work
  • Teams that maintain their own drawing-review checklists and want the checks prepared faster
  • Project teams comparing drawing versions and change orders
  • Firms that need a spot-check record rather than a black-box result
  • Organisations that require drawings to stay in their own environment

Not a fit

  • Anyone expecting automatic drawing production or a replacement for design work
  • Requests for a formal drawing-review conclusion — that belongs to a qualified review body
  • Projects with no named reviewer available to confirm the output
  • Work that requires deciding which drawing version is contractually valid
  • Requests to upload confidential drawings to general public-cloud tools

Three drafting scenarios we can scope

Drawing PDFs or images containing door and window schedules, material lists, equipment tables, room schedules and legendsExtract tables and fields, map them to a configurable spreadsheet schema, and record the source drawing page and extraction confidence for each fieldYour engineer spot-checks an agreed share of rows (10% or more), corrects errors and approves the field mappingStructured data table, field-mapping document and spot-check record

What you receive

  • Structured data tableSpreadsheet output with a field mapping you approve; each value can be traced back to its source drawing page.
  • Field-mapping documentThe mapping rules used, so your team can adjust and reuse them on future document types.
  • Review-point prompt listChecklist comparison output: each review point, the located drawing evidence and the status your reviewer assigned.
  • Located screenshotsCropped evidence for each flag, so a reviewer can judge quickly instead of searching the drawing set.
  • Spot-check recordThe agreed sample share checked by your engineer, the errors found and the corrections made.
  • Review recordWho confirmed each item and what conclusion was reached; the record travels with the deliverable.
  • Working SOPA written procedure and prompt cards so the process can continue without external support.

How the pilot runs

  1. 01

    Diagnostic 1–2 weeks

Review a sample drawing set, confirm formats and quality, agree the output schema and name the reviewer.

  2. 02

Schema and access setup 2–3 days

Agree field mapping, review-point list, processing environment and confidentiality terms.

  3. 03

Extraction and check run 1–3 weeks

Process one project, produce the structured output and review list, and walk through results with your reviewer.

  4. 04

    Spot-check and acceptance 3–5 days

Complete the agreed spot-check, record corrections, improve the mapping and close the acceptance sheet.

How acceptance is measured

  • Every item on the agreed review-point list is covered; the coverage statement is delivered with the output
  • Every extracted value and every flag can be traced to a source drawing page
  • The field mapping is reviewed and approved by your engineer before the run is accepted
  • The agreed spot-check share is completed, with errors and corrections recorded
  • Your reviewer confirms each flag and the review record is signed off
  • Data return or deletion is confirmed in writing

What we do not do

  • We do not produce, alter or auto-generate drawings
  • We do not replace the design team, a registered architect or structural engineer, or a drawing-review institution
  • We do not issue a formal drawing-review conclusion; the final conclusion is made by the qualified body or professional you appoint
  • We do not claim 100% extraction accuracy — spot-checks and corrections are part of the method
  • We do not decide which drawing version is contractually valid or why a change occurred
  • We do not transfer design copyright; drawings remain yours and are not used to train models
  • We do not claim official interfaces with BIM platforms or design software vendors

Pricing approach

Priced by scope: number of drawing sets and professionals, document types, extraction complexity, review-point coverage and deployment shape. A written project confirmation fixes scope and price; no prices are published on this page. Training programs are quoted separately on our Chinese training site.

Evidence for this scenario

Demonstration sample · not a real project

Drawing schedule to structured spreadsheet

A method sample built from public sample material: field mapping, confidence marks, source-page trace and spot-check format. No client data and no accuracy claim.

Demonstration sample · not a real project

Review-point prompt list

A sample checklist comparison with located screenshots, showing how a reviewer receives items for decision. Not a real project and not a review conclusion.

Design institute client case

No design-institute case is authorized at launch. A pilot record could be published after written client approval.

Frequently asked questions

Is drafting assist an AI drawing generator?

No. It reads drawings and produces reviewable information — spreadsheets, prompt lists and difference tables. Drawings are still produced, checked and signed by your design professionals.

Can it read scanned or low-quality drawings?

Sometimes, with limits. Scan quality, merged cells, handwriting and mixed conventions raise error rates. We test a sample first and state plainly if the source is too poor to be useful.

Who makes the final review judgement?

Your chief engineer, professional lead or the qualified review body you appoint. We prepare the items and evidence; the judgement and the conclusion remain yours.

What happens to our drawing copyright and confidentiality?

Drawings remain yours. They are processed in your environment by default, are not used to train models and are not shared across clients. Files are returned or deleted with a written record when the engagement ends.

Which formats can you handle?

PDF and image-based drawings are the default. Native BIM and design formats are assessed per project and per vendor; we do not claim official interfaces or official partnerships.

How long does a pilot take?

Typically 1–3 weeks for one drawing set once files and access are ready, plus a short diagnostic. The exact scope is fixed in the project confirmation.

Can this use our own review checklist?

Yes — that is the preferred setup. Your checklist (codes, enterprise standards or client requirements) becomes the comparison basis, and you keep ownership of how it is applied.
