Overseas engineering support: retrieval, documents and data boundaries
We support overseas engineering teams with clause retrieval across FIDIC-based contract sets, bilingual technical documents and project knowledge bases. Legal interpretation, contract decisions and cross-border compliance sign-off stay with your counsel and the applicable local law.

Where this helps overseas teams — and where it must stop
Good fit
- Overseas engineering contractors and international business units working with FIDIC-based contract sets
- Commercial and contract teams that need faster clause retrieval and a structured risk-point list
- Project teams handling bilingual specifications, drawing notes, submissions and correspondence
- Programmes that need a searchable project knowledge base across time zones
- Organisations that will complete a data-flow and residency assessment before processing
Not a fit
- Requests for legal advice, contract interpretation or claim entitlement opinions
- Anyone expecting guaranteed claim, extension-of-time, payment or arbitration outcomes
- Teams that want official letters to go out without legal or local-counsel review
- Cross-border processing started before a compliance and data-residency assessment is approved
- Requests for certified translations or for legal-effect documents produced by AI

Three overseas scenarios we can scope
| Input | AI assist | Human review | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contract set (FIDIC-based general conditions, particular conditions, amendments), tender documents and project correspondence | Retrieve clauses by topic, produce a risk-point list covering notice periods, claim conditions and payment terms, and prepare draft correspondence for review | Your commercial contract lead and legal or local counsel review every item and approve any letter before it is sent | Clause retrieval report, risk-point list and draft correspondence |
| Technical specifications, drawing notes, submission documents and project emails | Produce translation drafts and terminology-consistency checks, with bilingual comparison aligned to your glossary | Your professional translators or engineers review and approve each document before external submission | Bilingual comparison documents and an approved terminology glossary |
| Project documents, meeting minutes, emails and progress records | Build a searchable project knowledge base, answer document questions with sources, and prepare weekly or monthly report drafts and action lists | Your project manager confirms reports and action owners before anything is issued | Project knowledge base, report drafts and action list |
What you receive
- Clause retrieval reportClause references by topic, each traceable to the original contract text and page.
- Risk-point listNotice deadlines, claim conditions, payment terms and documentation gaps, marked for legal and commercial review.
- Draft correspondenceDrafts for internal review only; nothing is issued without approval by your legal or local counsel.
- Bilingual comparison setSource and target text aligned for reviewer approval, with terminology choices made visible.
- Terminology glossaryA project glossary agreed by your reviewers, so terms stay consistent across documents and teams.
- Project knowledge baseA searchable knowledge base with an explicit coverage statement and an update mechanism.
- Data-flow and residency noteA written record of where data is processed, retained and deleted, agreed before the pilot starts.
How the pilot runs
- 01
Diagnostic 1–2 weeks
Identify the contract set, document types and review chain; agree the single scenario for the pilot.
- 02
Data-flow and residency assessment 1–3 weeks depending on jurisdictions
Map where data will be processed and stored, agree deployment shape and retention terms, and record counsel sign-off before any processing.
- 03
Pilot run 4–6 weeks
Run clause retrieval, bilingual comparison or knowledge-base setup on one project, with your reviewers in the loop.
- 04
Acceptance and hand-over 3–5 days
Complete the acceptance sheet, hand over the SOP and glossary, and agree whether to expand or deploy privately.
How acceptance is measured
- Every clause reference is traceable to the contract text and page number
- The risk-point list is reviewed and annotated by your commercial lead and legal or local counsel
- The terminology glossary is approved by your translator or engineer
- The agreed share of bilingual passages is reviewed and signed off by your reviewer
- Report drafts are confirmed by the project manager before any issue or submission
- The data-flow and residency plan is approved before processing and deletion or return is confirmed in writing
What we do not do
- We do not provide legal advice, legal opinions or contract interpretation decisions
- We do not guarantee claim outcomes, extension of time, payment, arbitration results or project outcomes
- We do not issue official letters or submissions; drafts require review and approval by your legal or local counsel
- We do not provide certified translations or documents with legal effect generated by AI
- We do not process cross-border data before a compliance and data-residency assessment is approved
- We do not claim affiliation with FIDIC or any authority; contract text is the text you provide or a publicly available model form
- We do not replace your project management, document control or contract administration systems
Pricing approach
Priced by scope: number and length of contract sets, languages and document volume, knowledge-base size, review intensity and deployment shape (including offshore or client-side environments). A written project confirmation fixes scope and price; no prices are published on this page. Training programs are quoted separately on our Chinese training site.
Evidence for this scenario
Clause retrieval report on a public model form
A method sample built from publicly available model contract material: topic index, clause trace and risk-point format. Not a real project and not legal advice.
Bilingual glossary and comparison set
A sample showing terminology control and reviewer marks. No client contract, party name, price or legal position is reproduced.
Overseas contractor case
No overseas client case is authorized at launch. Publishing one requires written client approval and legal review of the case wording.
Frequently asked questions
Do you provide legal advice on FIDIC contracts?
No. We provide retrieval and workflow support: clause search, topic indexes, risk-point lists and draft correspondence. Interpretation, entitlement and legal conclusions belong to your counsel or local lawyers.
Which FIDIC versions can you work with?
We work from the contract text you provide, including particular conditions and amendments, and can reference publicly available model forms. We do not claim affiliation with FIDIC or any official status.
How is cross-border data handled?
A data-flow and residency assessment comes first. We agree where documents are processed and stored, and who can access them. No cross-border processing starts until your legal and compliance owners approve it in writing.
Can you translate technical documents?
We produce translation drafts, terminology checks and bilingual comparisons. Your translators or engineers review and approve each document before external submission; we do not provide certified translations.
Can the knowledge base cover several projects and countries?
Yes, with access control and per-project isolation. Documents are not shared across clients, and coverage limits are stated openly rather than implied as complete.
How long does a pilot take?
Typically 4–6 weeks for one scenario on one project once the data-flow assessment is approved and reviewers are available. Jurisdiction-specific assessment can add time before the pilot.
Can you draft claim letters or notices?
We can prepare drafts with the relevant clause references for internal review. Your legal or local counsel must review and approve any letter before it is sent; we do not send anything on your behalf.
